Region 6 Behavioural Healthcare is responsible for the planning, developing, funding, monitoring and evaluating of behavioural health services in Cass, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties. This publicly funded behavioural health system includes mental health and substance use prevention, treatment and rehabilitation services provided by a network of providers, supported by federal, state and county dollars. Adult mental health services include: outpatient treatment, medication management, assertive community treatment, emergency community support, day rehabilitation, day treatment, supported employment, mental health respite, urgent outpatient, hospital diversion and crisis intervention, first episode of psychosis (FEP), independent living classes, acute inpatient treatment, psychiatric residential rehabilitation, secure residential treatment, community support, and dual disorder residential treatment. Adult substance abuse services include: substance use assessment, outpatient treatment, peer support, intensive outpatient, community support, methadone maintenance, social detoxification, halfway house, short term residential treatment. Youth mental health services include: outpatient mental health and substance abuse counselling, medication management, parents & children together (PACT), first episode of psychosis (FEP), professional partners, young people's peer group, and independent living classes. Independent living skills education and housing is available for transition age youth. Case management, transitional housing, medication management, and assistance in applying for SSI and SSDI benefits are available for individuals who are homeless with serious mental illness, inclusive of those with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders. Region 6 also provides affordable housing opportunities, consumer advocacy, and substance abuse prevention, mental health promotion and suicide prevention activities for the community.
