GL Homes donation will enable mental health center to install UV lights

South Florida Sun Sentinel - 3/19/2021

To help reduce the spread of viruses such as COVID-19 and bacteria, the South County Mental Health Center in Delray Beach will be installing new ultra-violet lights in the air-conditioning units after receiving a $53,000 donation from GL Homes.

The new UV lights are part of efforts to keep everyone at the mental health center safe during the pandemic.

“Ultra-violet lights in the air conditioning units have been proven to reduce the spread of viruses and bacteria. Early on when the pandemic started, we had UV lights installed in our main Crisis Stabilization Unit,” South County Mental Health Center CEO Joseph Speicher said in a statement. “It appears as if they were tremendously effective in our low COVID cases. We are greatly appreciative to GL Homes in helping us keep our residents, clients and staff safe.”
